Domestic Guests

If you have never been to Dumaguete City, you are in for a treat! Fly Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines. I recommend you arriving at least a day before the wedding.

Car

Arriving in Dumaguete City

There a lots of ways to get around the city. You can either rent a car or if you know how to ride a moped (motor bike) that is also very fun especially if you are feeling more adventurous. Off course, safety is our biggest concern, if you aren’t comfortable riding a moped please let us know so we can help accommodate you better.

Hotel Product

Lodging

We recommend staying within Dumaguete City as the venue is just about 30 mins away from city center. Hotels in Dumaguete are relatively inexpensive and there’s a lot of places to choose from.

Story

Mike: I had just joined a new real estate office and every week at the same time, my phone would ring. On the other end was a woman from the Philippines, her name is Aira. She also worked for the same office and her job was to make accountability calls to agents in the company, including me, regarding the amount of business I close. I did not like it.

I hadn’t expected to have these recurring calls. She is confident and has a personality fit for the job. I said to myself “Who is this woman asking me all these questions? I am a top agent!” At first I came across unkind. And then I recognized she was just trying to do her job. The next time she called I apologized for our previous exchanges, but she insisted there was no harm done. From that point on I look forward to getting calls from her. Our calls became more frequent and lasted longer. Sometimes we remain on the line after hours, business forgotten, as we turned our attention to other topics.

When I had a business trip to Thailand coming up, I mentioned it in conversation.

“You should come to the Philippines while your here!” she responded.

That had been exactly the response I was hoping for. I ended up visiting her a few times in 2019 — we even took a trip to Vietnam—and then she visited me. Not long after, she made a permanent move to Washington, where we were married at a courthouse and currently living our her happily ever after.

Tidbits

Who made the first move? How?

He started to get flirtatious during our calls and commenting on my pictures on social media saying how pretty I was. So I guess he did!

What was your most memorable date?

That was the night of Aira’s birthday when we had just met in person. We went to a fancy restaurant in Manila called Finestra. The food was so bomb, we didn’t realize it was actually Chinese new year as well and all of a sudden fireworks started going off. We went outside to witness the show and it was so romantic 😍

What's your favorite activity together?

Traveling, visiting new places, trying out new restaurants, and watching movies!

Where are you going for your honeymoon?

Siargao Island in the Philippines! We both love this island and everything it has to offer! Note: Our “first” honeymoon was in Miami.

What's the best meal you have eaten together?

This one is hard since we have had numerous spectacular meals together! We love food! But the best one was probably Korean bbq! Ugh! it’s our favorite!

What's the most memorable trip you have taken together?

Our trip to Da Nang, Vietnam was amazing! So much memories made and was just a slice of heaven for us both.
